During Christmas, most students will go home and most building will be closed. Therefore, many international students will fight to home or plan a trip. Some students may choose Europe, the other may stay in U.K. but go to London or the other city. If you need to take train, Railway card/young person card is a good choice, you can apply it online, they will send it to you, and you also can find promote code to get discount of one year card, it cost 30 pound per year, then you can get 66% off when you buy the railway ticket, you also can get discount when shop in some store which located in inside of railway stations. After you get your railway card, you can book train ticket online then collect it in the railway stations, you can also reserve your seats online, then you will get a ticket which have your seat's number and time of your train. You need to show both your railway tickets and seat's tickets when checking your tickets on the train.
After you arrive London, you may need Oyster Card to take the tube, you can buy it by ticket machine in every tube station. In addition, you can ask the staff there to assist you register you rail card with your Oyster Card so that you can get discount when you choose weekly or monthly set. For single way, it dose not work with those discount. You also can register your personal information online to combine your Oyster Card in case you lost it.
由於聖誕節，所有的學生都會回家，這邊就會變成一個名符其實的小荒村，非常荒涼，於是大部分的國際學生都會短暫出去旅行。許多人會選擇去歐洲，或者因為放假回來還要考試跟交作業，也有許多人就選擇國內旅行，去倫敦或北愛爾蘭。通常留學生都會買Railway card/young person card 一年期是30 pounds，可以上網找code，大概還可以在優惠10%，之後購買火車票都可以折扣66%，有些火車站的商店也可以打折。雖然上面是寫19-25歲，但只要你是就學中的學生，用學生證也是可以辦得。買火車票的話，可以先上網買，然後選定Railway card/young person card，之後去車站取票他也不會要求你出示，所以可以請朋友代買也沒問題，但是在車上的時候會查票，所以要出示你的Railway card/young person card 、你的票、劃位票。在英國，火車有分成First class 跟一般的車廂，如果你買了票，可以線上劃位或者去火車站劃位，要不然就只能站著。First Class 比較高檔，乘客好像不能站在那邊，只能站在普通車廂。劃位候你會拿到另外一張劃位的車票，如果是兩個人一起買，他只會給你一張劃位車票，上面會寫兩個位子的號碼以及車子的出發時間。
到了倫敦，就要去買一張Oyster Card, 在所有的地鐵站(Tube station)的售票機(上面寫Tickets)的機器，都可以買，有分成一般Top up儲值的卡，也有那種一星期、一個月的。如果你有Railway Card，可以請站務人員幫你綁定，這樣就可以拿到優惠，但根據站務人員的說法是，只有你買七天票和月票是有優惠的。單程票是沒有Railway card discount. 另外，Oyster Card 也可以上網註冊資料，以防你卡遺失的時候可以補辦。
